What is an Expired Domain

What Is An Expired Domain?
To understand expired domains and their significance, an understanding of the difference between a domain and a website is essential. A good analogy is to compare a domain to a company telephone number, and a website to a company office. People can use a telephone to call up the company and place orders, in the same way that they can use an internet browser to enter a domain to look at the company website and place orders. With the telephone, the company pays the telephone company. If they don't pay, then their telephone gets cut off, and their phone number gets reassigned.

CMS options to consider

It boggles my mind that the year 2007 is almost over and still to my knowledge, there is no standard out of the box Content Management System (CMS) that can just plug & play into a corporate infrastructure. They all need to have a bit of customization to integrate. Some common estimates are that you can spend up to three times the cost of the software. The fact that enterprise CMS systems can run hundreds of thousands of dollars, this is not a cheap solution.

In some recent discussions I've had with various people that have done a CMS implementation, one general feeling kept emerging, an enterprise is better off designing their own. What's available is too generic and trying to solve every business's content management needs with the same solution. This approach assumes that a construction company has the same CMS needs as a financial institution and this is not true. That false impression is what usually drives the cost to the three times cost I mentioned before.

So, what's an IT manager to do? The general conscience is to develop your own or work with a software design company to write your own. Analyze the business needs and build the simplest solution you can think of. Remember, a "CMS" core requirement is to allow users to input content and deploy it to a number of target locations.

Authority Site Building Blueprint

If your aim is not just to survive, but pronounce your presence online more prominently, then a authority site is your solution. An authority site will have more content, more pages and more links added to its body. The quality of content should be very relevant, original, up-to-date and complete. The site will be such a high quality statement of the genre that other sites will want to add their links and refer the authority site's link on other pages.

Autoresponders – The Other Wise Choice

When answering machines were first introduced it was not uncommon for many individuals to simply hang up with the highly emotive vow never to do business with a company that would be so impersonal as to relegate their concerns to a recording device. Then they would discuss the matter with similar emotion to any who would listen.
Directory submissions entail a thorough knowledge of current industry practices. Submitting to directories also involves knowing which blunders to avoid and getting the most out of your listings.

A Great Time To Become An Entrepreneur

Read a good post from Al over at Self Made Minds that talked about catching the Web Entrepreneur Train, so to speak. While the post is nothing huge to read, it did spur a bit of nostalgia for me in a way.

I remember within the first few years that I broke out on my own and decided to try an "live off the web" thinking how difficult that road would have been in the brick and mortar days. Now is the time to start something like and leverage those hundreds of tools, and services available online (most of which can be found for free) to catapult yourself as a Self Made Entrepreneur for the new year.

How To Keep Expired Domain Links

Many people are now buying expired domains based on the number of backlinks or the ranking of an expired domain, only to discover that these have mysteriously disappeared a month or so later. Is it that the search engines have black listed the domain, or could you have done something at the beginning to prevent this from happening? The truth is, you are in control.
The popularity and ranking of your blog is directly correlated to the number of sites linking to it. In-bound links to your blog tell the search engines what they will find when visiting your site.
